• We received notice from the US Embassy in Addis that our case was submitted to them on August 1. Super excited! They give no guarantees of a time line (any where from a few weeks to a few months) and list all the possible delays that could still occur. We are still excited and rejoicing…

  • It is great to be at this stage in the adoption process. This week we received Hanissa’s Ethiopian passport…she can now travel out of the country. Yay! We just need permission from the US now. Each agency is assigned a day to file paperwork at the US Embassy. Wednesday is our day. We hope that…

  • Waiting…it is a part of life. Throw adoption into the mix and waiting multiplies. Here we are once again, but exciting things are happening.

  • I was nervous. A little over a year ago, I had sat in this very room, waiting to see the judge and knowing that our file was incomplete. I remember the agony of waiting more than a year to complete an adoption that would eventually fail. Yes, I was nervous.

  • Ethiopia: The Orphanage

The entrance to Kidane Mihret Orphanage and School.

  • Did you know….

  • Hanissa loves David. I mean she L.O.V.E.S. him. It was fun to watch her pour out sweet affection on her Daddy.

  • I’m drinking my coffee and reading my Bible. The routine is normal, but the setting is different. Outside the birds sing, children’s voices are emerging, church bells ring, and muslim prayers call out through the air. I’m back in Ethiopia.

  • Rachel graduated from Far East Academy on June 10, 2012. We were able to host the event at Gina’s, again. It has become a local homeschool tradition and Rachel couldn’t imagine graduation happening any other place. Our great friends (and neighbors) had a daughter, Olivia, finishing 8th grade. We are blessed by an awesome circle…

  • This year the first of my babies received a diploma. When I look at her, I see so much more than a high school graduate.
